The STTAIRS project emerges in response to the need for structured AI integration in European education systems. As artificial intelligence reshapes the educational landscape, teachers require comprehensive training to effectively leverage AI tools while maintaining pedagogical excellence and ethical standards.
Current needs identified across partner institutions include:
- Limited AI integration in teacher training programs: most professional development programs lack dedicated AI modules, leaving educators without structured guidance on implementing AI in their classrooms.
- Inadequate LMS platforms: traditional Learning Management Systems are not fully equipped to support AI-enhanced methodologies, relying on static course designs that no longer meet the needs of an AI-driven education landscape.
- Gap in ethical AI guidance: teachers lack proper training on ethical AI use, data protection, and algorithmic transparency, creating risks in responsible AI adoption.
- Need for personalized learning: schools recognize AI's potential to support inclusion and personalized learning, but educators need practical tools and methodologies to adapt content to diverse student needs.
- Digital literacy requirements: educators are actively seeking structured training on AI for lesson planning, assessment, and student engagement, yet face complexity in navigating digital platforms.
This project addresses these challenges through a comprehensive approach that combines technical platform development, pedagogical innovation, pilot testing across multiple countries, and extensive dissemination of results.
